It’s a simple idea that traces its beginnings not to the laboratory but the homes of Japan. For generations, kilns were used to treat fence posts, bowls, and other wooden items to increase their durability.

In the 1990s, this principle was further researched and developed by Stellac^® Oy, a company in Finland.
