CARE & MAINTENANCE
All wood requires a little TLC, and PureWood™ Decking is a real wood product. But PureWood's Thermal Modified Wood (TMW) process offers a level of natural protection that typical wood simply can't match, with no preservatives, no plastics, and no pesticides — plus, 25 years of worry-free beauty and enjoyment.
Cleaning
Under most conditions, minimal cleaning with a mild or deck-specific detergent is all it takes to maintain the natural beauty
of your PureWood Decking. Specific cleaning requirements may vary with climate, use, and traffic.
However, because PureWood is real wood, we advise against the use of harsh chemicals or power-washing as they can damage the finish of any wood product.
Weathering
PureWood’s TMW process gives it a rich, teak-like color, which will silver over time if not treated with a UV-resistant sealant or stain. Because of the wood’s natural state, some boards may check, or crack, more than others. This checking has no effect on the long term durability of the product, nor does it affect PureWood’s resistance to rot and decay. To enhance the product's performance against checking, PureWood features a factory-applied, premium water sealant.
Coating
In addition to the TMW process, PureWood Decking features a factory-applied, zero-VOC water sealant. If you wish, additional UV-resistant stain/sealant can be used to preserve the natural color of your deck or to change the wood’s hue. We recommend a semi-transparent or clear treatment, which will allow the beautiful wood grain of PureWood to show.
IMPORTANT: Be sure to follow the coating manufacturer’s guide for care, cleaning,
and maintenance, including intervals of recoating, which may vary, and can affect product performance.
